John is a co-founder, content creator and President of MESH Games. He has loved sports all his life. John played four sports in high school before attending Luther College, where he played running back while earning a degree in physics. He later received a degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He has since started both a small engineering research company and a software engineering company focusing on large-scale database systems. His software programming skills have proven invaluable for MESH Games, and he has built full-blown software that can quickly generate hundreds of MESH Games or tournament simulations using historical sports data. In his spare time, John loves hanging out with his family and is on a quest to train his Labrador retriever rescue dog to fetch...but leave his shoes alone.
Steve is a MESH Games co-founder, content creator, and business manager. Growing up in a rural community, Steve played his heart out, earning a career -4.2 W.A.R. across every sport available. Realizing his career path would not put him in Wrigley, Lambeau or Madison Square Garden - and being the epitome of a team player - Steve put his accounting and business degrees from Luther College to the test, becoming one of the youngest store managers in Wal-Mart history. After a seeming lifetime of retail (11 years), he co-founded one of the most successful international import/export companies in the Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois tri-state area. For over 20 years, he has served his partners around the world with the same fierce intensity and devotion that he displayed every time he hit the field, court or track. Steve enjoys time with his family as his children begin adult lives of their own. Co-founding MESH Games has given him the opportunity to reignite his passion for sports and the desire to serve the greater good.
Tim is a MESH Games co-founder, senior content creator, and conceivably the world's biggest sports fanatic. Athletic. Physically Dominant. Agile. These are just three of the many sports compliments nobody ever used to describe Tim. While growing up on a farm in eastern Iowa, Tim developed his love for sports. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the physical talent to match his love and spent most of his time watching from the sidelines. (It has been rumored he fouled out of a basketball game during pregame warmups. He has neither confirmed nor denied that accusation). Early in his career, Tim spent time in the broadcast booth at several radio stations and has a degree in public communications along with further education in radio & TV broadcasting. He has spent the last 15 years for a multinational heavy equipment manufacturer in Moline, Illinois, and is currently in management. While he enjoys cheering on the Packers and Hawkeyes with his wife and son, one of his favorite past times is watching college basketball with friends, especially during March Madness. Tim has been known to say: “I think March Madness should be recognized as a holiday and ranked right up there with Christmas and New Year’s. The order of the ranking, well, that is a personal preference.” It was that love for March Madness and the lack of sports during the COVID pandemic that prompted him to co-found MESH Games.
Colleen is the senior producer for MESH Games. She was raised on a western Iowa cattle ranch, where herding cattle on foot served as the ideal training for high school track and cross country. She made it to state in track every year of high school. After earning her journalism degree at Iowa State University, Colleen spent a decade as a newspaper reporter, working at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Des Moines Register. She then shifted her career a bit, writing a book called “Train to Nowhere; Inside an Immigrant Death Investigation,” which she later produced as a documentary that Netflix licensed for a three-year period. Her second film, "West by Orphan Train," which she directed and co-produced, won a regional Emmy in 2015. She is currently creating her second of two television series. When not doing her own independent film and television work, Colleen produces stories for the nationally-distributed television agriculture show, Market to Market TV at Iowa PBS. Colleen has been instrumental in bringing television production experience to MESH Games. When not reporting or making TV shows or films, Colleen can be found hanging out with her husband and three children, or careening through the woods on her mountain bike.
Brent is the MESH Games senior videographer. Brent creatively lives through the lens in both photography and videography. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Iowa State University and brings over 20 years of creative direction and videography experience to the team, having filmed everything from broadcast commercials, product videos, weddings, and, most challenging, kids’ events. Brent has a passion for MESH Games because it offers the chance to creatively blend two of his passions: sports and videography. Brent states: "I just love the idea of some buddies sitting around enjoying time together while exchanging jabs and memories over a MESH Game. Just think of the sports debates that could finally be answered in such a fun and creative way.” When he's not doing camera work, he's busy chasing his two little children, hanging out with his older son and spending as much outdoor time with his wife as possible.

Jason was a senior strategy advisor for MESH Games, a die-hard sports enthusiast and critical early member of the team. He recently passed away after a tough fight against an aggressive brain cancer. He is profoundly missed.
Quoting from his bio: "He was raised in a small farming community in northwest Iowa, where hard work and the outdoors went hand-in-hand. Notably, as a 98-pound freshman, he parlayed his hard-work ethic into playing defensive tackle on his high school football team (nevermind that there were only twenty kids on the entire team). Despite his size disadvantage, he managed to record the team’s first quarterback sack of the season through his creativity and determination: otherwise known as “small enough to crawl under the offensive lineman’s legs.” As a creative and outside-the-box thinker, he subsequently earned his degree in landscape architecture at Iowa State University and built his nearly three-decade career leveraging his passion for intimate landscapes while building lasting customer relationships. Beyond work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, who identify him as a sports fanatic. According to Jason: "If it weren’t for my family and work, then basketball, football and golf could easily occupy all my time!" Jason was also a serious gamer at one point and literally held the highest Candy Crush score in world history, having completed every level ever made."
